Photos, musings, and flashes of brilliance from the staff at The Ruth Bancroft Garden

This Puya was received with a wrong name, but seems close to Puya coerulea. However, it comes into flower later in the year and has the peculiarity that a rosette often makes several inflorescences simultaneously (though it is not displaying this trait in the photo). It is the only Puya at the Ruth Bancroft Garden which does this. Puyas are bromeliads native to South America.
